Make Breath the first test

BreathInsight is being developed as a rapid, non-invasive molecular triage tool analysing selected volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds in exhaled breath.

The objective is to provide an early molecular risk signal that may help identify people who could benefit from further clinical investigation.

A risk signal doesn’t end the clinical process. It starts the appropriate one.

A DIFFERENT ROLE FOR BREATH ANALYSIS

Breath contains molecular information associated with processes taking place within the body.
BreathInsight is being developed to make selected molecular information from exhaled breath more accessible at the point of need.
It is not intended to replace established diagnostic procedures or provide a diagnosis. Its proposed role is earlier in the pathway: providing a rapid, non-invasive molecular risk signal that can help inform whether further investigation may be appropriate.

A rapid, non-invasive molecular risk signal — before the conventional diagnostic pathway begins.

A risk signal doesn’t end the clinical process. It starts the appropriate one.

How Breathinsight Works

1

BREATHE

A controlled breath sample is presented to the sensing system.

2

ANALYSE

NanoSense sensing surfaces configured around selected molecular targets generate measurable optical responses.

3

RISK SIGNAL

The resulting molecular information is analysed to provide an application-specific risk signal.

4

CLINICAL PATHWAY

The information may help identify individuals who could benefit from further established clinical investigation.

WHAT HAS BEEN DEMONSTRATED?

Controlled human breath demonstration

NanoSense has conducted a controlled human demonstration using limonene as a known molecular breath challenge.
Clean baseline breath measurements were taken before consumption of a limonene-containing drink. Subsequent breath measurements produced a real-time response to the known molecular change, followed later by a movement back towards baseline.
This demonstrates the ability of the NanoSense sensing approach to observe a known molecular change in exhaled breath in real time.

It does not establish disease detection or clinical diagnostic performance.

A risk signal doesn’t end the clinical process. It starts the appropriate one.

Build the clinical Evidence with us

BreathInsight now requires clinical collaboration to build the evidence needed to evaluate its potential role in real-world healthcare pathways.
NanoSense is seeking collaboration with clinicians, hospitals, universities, researchers and diagnostic-development organisations with access to appropriate clinical expertise, participants, samples and validation capability.
